We deployed an update to the TouchPoint Check-In Print Server (version 1.1.4) that reduces network traffic to improve performance. The current version 1.1.3 will continue to function at this time.

If you are running the print server as a Windows service, it should update automatically and require no user input. You can verify that it updated by launching the configuration window and looking at the version number in the title bar. We recommend checking your kiosks to make sure they are printing properly.

If you manually launch the print server (not running as a Windows service), you can update it to version 1.1.4 by using this link: https://www.touchpointsoftware.com/checkinprinter.

See the Print Server for Check-In help article for more information.

We have released a new finance role named FinanceViewOnlyDetails. This role functions similarly to the existing FinanceViewOnly role, but it also grants access to view individual contributions on an individual’s record. The goal is to allow a user to see an individual’s giving information without having the access to modify it. The FinanceViewOnlyDetails role can be used in conjunction with the FundManager role to limited access to specific funds. This can be helpful if your church also has a foundation and you want to give a user access to see contributions given to the foundation, while maintaining privacy and confidentiality of other giving history.

In addition, we have updated the layout of the User Account page where an Admin assigns user roles. This includes a new column-based layout and a recategorization of the roles. This should make it easier to understand what certain roles affect so that Admins can assign the appropriate access to users.

See the Contributions – The Basics and Fund-Based Finance Roles help articles for more information.

We have released a few Check-In enhancements, based on feedback from our partner churches. These updates make Check-In much easier and streamlined for your staff.

***IMPORTANT: In order for these updates to work properly, you must log out of your Check-In kiosks and log back in. ***

Check-In Reached Capacity/Closed Items – On the Check-In kiosk, badges are now displayed when a class is Full (has reached capacity) or has been manually Closed, and people will not be able to self-check in to those classes. In Admin mode, when Visit or Join has been selected, the list of available classes will also show these labels, when appropriate, but Full or Closed classes can still be selected.

Add Family – In the Check-In Profile under your Administration menu, you will see a new tab named Add Family. Here, you can enable the ability to Add a Family all at once in Check-In. In addition to Add Person, you will also see Add Family as an option when searching for someone in Admin Mode. You can then optionally add them as Visitors or Members of a Class.

See the Check-In Profiles and Using Check-In help articles for more information.

The next release is scheduled to be deployed on Monday night, October 31. This includes new features, updates to existing features, and updates to features that are still in development or beta.

Fully Released New Features

  • Add a Family – Add multiple family members at the same time with the new Add Family option in Check-In. You can enable this on the new Add Family tab on the Check-In Profile screen.
  • Ticketing – The ability to change seats has been added to Assisted Booking.
  • User Roles – We updated the layout of the User Account page where an Admin assigns user roles. This includes a new column-based layout and a re-categorization of the roles. This will make is easier to understand what certain roles affect, so that Admins can assign the appropriate access to users.
  • FinanceViewOnlyDetails Role – There is a new role named FinanceViewOnlyDetails that works similarly to the existing FinanceViewOnly role. However, it grants additional access to the user to allow them to view an individual’s contributions on the Giving tab. It does not grant any additional access to other finance items in the Administration menu. The goal of this role is allow a user to see an individual’s giving information without having the access to modify it.
NOTE: This new role works with the FundManager role if you are wanting to only allow a user to see contributions to a specific fund.

Updates to Existing Features

  • Submission Report – Our recent release of the highly anticipated One Page Form included a new Submission Report. We will be limiting this report to the One Page Form registration type while we make some needed updates to facilitate use for other registration types.
  • Translation File – We added the ability to change the “Select fund” text on the giving page. View the Translation Files help article for a full list of system text that can be customized.
  • Check-In – When a class reaches capacity, it will show a Full label on the Check-In kiosk. If a class has been manually closed on the Check-In Dashboard, it will show a Closed label on the kiosk. In either case, people will not be able to check in to the class. In Admin mode, the classes will show the same labels, but for informational purposes only. From Admin mode, people can be checked into the classes.
  • Giving Page Rules – There is a new setting that allows you to decide whether to allow the Default Giving Page to be disabled.

Coming Soon

  • Mobile App 3.0 – This release includes some behind the scenes updates to the next version of the mobile app.
  • Scheduler Staff Notifications – There are 3 brand new staff notification templates. The “Email From” person will get an email when a person is scheduled or committed, when a person requests a sub, and when a person cancels.

In TouchPoint, church staff can determine if they want a Mobile Directory to be enabled, and churchgoers can specify what they want to reveal. In this TouchPointers, Andrew takes you through the three places these settings can be updated: a People Record, in the Involvement Directory Tab, and in each individual’s Involvement Member Dialogue Box.

  • Process Builder – This is now in Beta testing. This much requested and anticipated feature is well on it’s way to being released to all databases. Stay tuned for further updates!

DANIA LANE • Sep 23, 2022

If you are using our Ticketing feature, you’ll love the following updates we just released!

Ticket Sales Report

There is a new and improved Ticket Sales Report available under the Reports menu in the Attendance Summary section. The report contains new columns such as separate Section, Row, and Seat columns. Best of all, the report is fully searchable for Involvement, Section, Status, etc. You will be able to view the report if you have the Ticketing role.

Payment Screen

We’ve made some improvements and additions to the payment screen. Ticket purchasers will be able to view the date of the event on the payment screen and change their seat choices very easily. Attendees will be reassured they are registering for the correct date and have chosen the correct seats.

Replacement Codes
We have two new Ticketing replacement codes. You can now use {eventday} to print the Event Day on your tickets and include it in the confirmation email. We have created {ordernumber} which can also be used both on the ticket and email. The order number will match the number in the Ticket Sales report.

Confirmation Page
Registrants now have the ability to view their tickets immediately after registering. On the confirmation page, they will see a button to print their tickets. If they were not previously logged in, they will be required to log in to see their tickets.

Discount Code

Lastly, we’ve added a new discount code of “CARD” which can be used for offline credit cards (such as when using Stripe) in Assisted Booking.

See the Ticketing in TouchPoint help article to learn more about our Ticketing feature.

If your church uses Twilio, you likely received an email from them notifying you that (1) all new toll-free numbers require verification effective May 15, 2022 and (2) all existing toll-free numbers require submission for verification by Sept 30, 2022. If you have already verified your number(s) (unlikely), no action is required. If you have not yet verified your toll free number(s), please do so today. If you are unsure whether or not your numbers are verified, log in to Twilio and submit a support ticket asking them to check whether your number(s) are already verified or not.

If you do not verify your number(s), on October 1, 2022, messages sent via Toll-Free numbers will be restricted to the following messaging limits.

  • Daily limit: 2,000 messages
  • Weekly limit: 12,000 messages
  • Monthly limit: 25,000 messages

These limits aren’t applicable when a Toll-Free number has been submitted for verification and is in a ‘pending’ state or already verified.

Verifying your numbers has no additional charge (according to Twilio), but their documentation says the only way you can do it is by downloading a form and submitting it to Twilio support. More information, including the form and support link can be found here.

Reminder of a few best practices related to Twilio.

  • When using Twilio, TouchPoint recommends using Toll-free numbers over standard 10-digit, local numbers.
  • You should only use ONE toll-free number per SMS group in TouchPoint. Using more than one number per group could result in filtering by the carriers as well as additional fees.
  • Do not use shared (i.e. bit.ly) URL shorteners. TouchPoint automatically shortens URLs for you in an industry approved manner.
